Amy teaches ukulele lessons to students ages seven to adult. The ukulele is an easy instrument to learn and students are able to play fun songs after just a few lessons. Students learn to play melodies and chords, duets, and to play along with recordings! The ukulele is a great instrument to learn before the guitar to create finger dexterity and learn rhythm and musicality.
The video on this page, where Amy is performing a duet with a student at her annual holiday recital, is a good example of what beginning ukulele students learn. The student is playing the melody while Amy is accompanying her with chords. Duets are often played during lessons and performances, which is not only fun, but also enhances students' musicality and performance skills. Finger-style ukulele can be taught to advanced students, which combines melody and harmony together, similar to classical finger-style guitar.
It is never too late to learn to play an instrument! Adults and children seven and older are welcome. Amy has a strong background teaching children and helps them have fun while learning about music.
Amy provides two recitals each year for students to gain performance experience.
Amy teaches in her home studio on weekday mornings, afternoons, and early evenings. Lessons are booked once a week for 30 or 45 minutes. Tuition is paid monthly on the first lesson of each month. 48 hours notice is required to change a scheduled lesson. Contact Amy at (714) 496-6395 or AmyMHite@yahoo.com to schedule ukulele lessons.
